Neighborhood Watch Update |
|
Summer is a time of vacations and pool parties with family and friends. However, Neighborhood Watch reminds you that personal and household crimes are highest in these warm months. Remember to protect your home, property, and family while you're having fun:
While on vacation: Stop mail and cancel all deliveries or ask a friend to make daily collections. Hide empty garbage cans and keep shades and blinds in normal positions. Use an automatic timer for lighting at night. Leave a key with a trusted neighbor and ask them to keep an eye on your property. Tell them your departure and return dates and give them a contact phone number in case of emergency. Lock all windows and doors. Close/lock gates and garage doors. Do not advertise your vacation plans publically or to strangers. Put important household papers, valuables, credit cards, etc. in a fireproof safe or deposit box while you are gone. Keep a list of important numbers with you: credit cards, vehicles, physician, relatives, neighbor watching your home, insurance company, driver’s license, bank, etc. Offer your help to neighbors when they go on Vacation!
